Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon

We participated in the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon again this year. While it is one of the toughest Olympic distance races around, downtown Chattanooga is almost the perfect venue. Everything is right in one spot. We were able to walk to dinner, and even the start of the race the next morning.

The transition area looks like a disorganized mass of bikes but this race runs like a Swiss watch!

Steve's sweet ride is all ready for the race to start.

Just a few peeps waiting to start the swim.

The swim is a time trial start and is down river enabling a stress-free fast course. Swimmers are seeded in order of their swim times, so the lower the number, the faster the swimmer. The scenery is not bad either.

Ann looks like she is in an all out sprint coming out of the water...

...while Stiv is moving like he just stubbed his toe!

Ann with her game face on.

They close off one lane of the highway for the bike course. Not only is it unusual to be riding down the middle of the highway, but it makes for a nice safe course.

On paper, this run course should be fast and easy as it is pancake flat with the exception of two hills. If that were only the case! The annual heat and humidity are just a killer and make this race  extremely challenging.

Finished!!!

Never again!!!...Well, maybe next year...
After two years of this event, the run continues to be the bane of Stiv's existence!!! However, he will not stop doing this race until he finally masters the run!
